Doing yoga in the Andean clouds at Machu Picchu

MachuPichu

The Rehoboth Beach Yoga community traveled to Peru last fall to see the famous Machu Picchu, “Lost City of the Incas,” undoubtedly one of the greatest heirlooms the Andean people left to the world. It was truly a Magical Journey. The lost city of Machu Picchu, according to the Columbia Desktop Encyclopedia, was a fortress city of the ancient Incas. It is located in a high saddle between two peaks, about 50 miles northwest of Cuzco, once the capital of the Inca empire. “The extraordinary pre-Columbian ruin, five square miles of terraced stonework linked by 3,000 steps, was probably the last Inca stronghold after the Spanish conquest.”Shown in the photo are (back row left to right) Pierce Quinlan, Sonya McNiel, Bob Dickson, Ginny Daly, Steve Fennell, Terry Gardner (holding a copy of our local newspaper), Barbara Fennell, Charlie Codacovi, Susan Luff, Lynn Cattafi and Mark Conheady. In front are (l-r) Jim O’Malley, Hannalore Berg and Doug Gardner.
